Lake Simcoe

Lake Simcoe Watershed Modeling, SPARROW and SWAT

Advanced Watershed and Sediment Analysis

This project conducts a comprehensive water quality analysis for Lake Simcoe and its tributaries. It utilizes advanced modeling techniques, including statistical and process-based models like SPARROW and SWAT, along with a sediment diagenesis model (Aquasim), to understand pollutant behavior and inform effective management strategies.

Project Info: Watershed Modeling, SPARROW, SWAT

Project Description:

Analysis of water quality data in the Lake Simcoe and its tributaries with statistical, semi-empirical and process-based model (SEM), continuously-stirred tank reactors (CSTR), watershed models (SPARROW and SWAT). Additionally, we’ll employ a reactive-transport model for sediment core diagenesis (Aquasim) to understand how pollutants move and change within the lakebed. This comprehensive approach will help us pinpoint key factors affecting water quality and inform effective management strategies for the Lake Simcoe watershed.
